Prague in one day: “The city of a hundred spires”
Prague is among the most beautiful European cities, yet at the same time it can easily overwhelm its visitors. If you have one day at disposition, it pays off to focus on the points of interest that capture itsatmosphere, history and present the best.
Charles Bridge and Old Town
The best way to start the day is early in the morning on Charles Bridge. At this time of day, the bridge is at its quietest and offers a unique view of Prague Castle and the Vltava River without the crowds of tourists.
On the other side of the bridge lies Malá Strana, one of the best-preserved historic districts of Old Prague. Narrow streets, Baroque palaces, and quiet nooks create an atmosphere that contrasts with the bustling center on the other side of the river.
The Iconic Prague Castle
From "Malá Strana", continue toward Prague Castle, the largest castle complex in the world. It's definitely worth taking a walk through at least the outdoor areas, Hradčanské náměstí, and St. Vitus Cathedral. The cathedral's interior is one of the architectural highlights of Central Europe.
The castle terraces offer some of the most beautiful views of the "City of a Hundred Spires."

Cathedral of st. Vitus
The dominant feature of the Prague Castle complex is St. Vitus Cathedral, located in the castle courtyard itself.
On its walls, you can see small stonemason's marks such as a four-leaf clover, a heart, or the initials of the stonemason who worked on the stone.
A long line forms in front of the cathedral entrance as early as the morning, but it is definitely worth the wait.

Old Town and Josefov
After lunch, cross Charles Bridge back to the right bank and continue on to the Old Town. Old Town Square is one of the most striking public spaces in Europe, and despite the crowds, it's worth a brief stop.
Nearby is Josefov, the former Jewish quarter, whose synagogues and cemetery serve as a reminder of one of the most significant chapters in Prague's history. Even a short walk through this area will give your visit a deeper historical context.
The Riverbank or Letná
The end of the day is best spent away from the busiest part of the city center. The Riverbank offers a lively yet relaxed atmosphere along the Vltava River, while Letná Park provides tranquility and one of the most famous views of the city.
